Solid waste district sets 2019 events

The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District announced its year events for 2019, which are listed as follows:
• March 25-29: Shawnee Park Cleanup. To register, call 740-858-6652.
• Saturday, March 30: Scioto County Tire Amnesty Day in Portsmouth, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Saturday, April 6: Lawrence County Tire Amnesty Day in Ironton, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Friday, April 12: Scioto County Drug Take Back Day in the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department parking lot, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Saturday, April 13: Lawrence County Drug Take Back Day at the Ironton Hills Plaza in Ironton, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• April 39-May 3: Lawrence County Schools Litter Cleanup Week.
• Saturday, May 4: Lawrence Countywide Cleanup Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration must be complete for supplies.
• Friday, May 10: Scioto County E-waste/Document Shred Day in Portsmouth, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Saturday, May 11: Lawrence County E-waste/Document Shred Day in Ironton, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Saturday, June 15: Ohio River Sweep in Lawrence and Scioto counties. Locations are listed on the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District website.
• Sept. 23-27: Scioto County Schools Litter Cleanup Week.
• Saturday, Sept. 28: Scioto Countywide Cleanup Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration must be complete for supplies.
“The district provides all of these events free of charge, and we would encourage people to take advantage of these,” district director Dan Palmer said. “Residents in Lawrence and Scioto counties pay a parcel fee for these services, and we have them to help people properly dispose of items.”
