Doris Runyon
Sept. 27, 1931 — Dec. 9, 2018
Doris Vivian Runyon, 87, of Deering, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley, Ironton. Mrs. Runyon was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Lawrence County, a daughter to the late Fred and Elizabeth Mae (Wilson) Anson. She is survived by her husband, in their 69th year of marriage, Charles Thomas Runyon, whom she married May 9, 1950.
Mrs. Runyon was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant schools and worked and retired from Dawson-Bryant local schools, and previously worked as a nurses’ aide at Bowman’s Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Freedom Enterprise Baptist Church in Ironton, and sang for over a decade with the Freedom Gospel Singers. Doris and her husband loved to laugh and travel the country. She enjoyed teaching children in church, reading, crocheting and playing practical jokes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred (Buddy) Anson Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth Morgan and Mary Brooks.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Charles (Juanita) Fredrick Runyon and Thomas (Pamela) Edward Runyon, both of South Point, and Beth (W. Aaron) Ann Henderson, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; a sister, Freda Ison, of Hanging Rock; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Ronnie Massie officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery and visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Barbara Imes
April 28, 1960 — Dec. 6, 2018
Barbara Jean Imes, 58, of Pedro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born April 28, 1960, the daughter of the late John and Sarah Jane Smith Gullett.
Barbara attended Rock Hill High School and was a homemaker. She loved to tinker, had a great mechanical mind, and Barbara had a great sense of humor and loved to go to yard sales. Barb’s faith in God was based on the Baptist teaching.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marlida Smith; and her brother, Charles “Bud” Gullett.
She is survived by three sisters, Shirley Mullins, Marilyn Silcott and Maralynda “Peanut” Gullett; two brothers, John Henry Gullett and Harry Gullett; and her best friend, who was like a sister to her, Debbie Schneider.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. W. Lynd “Doggie” Brammer, 83, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Lamar O’Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
