Man killed in South Point accident

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash in South Point that killed a man Friday morning.
At 6:46 a.m., the Ironton Post of the OSHP got a call about a crash on County Road 1, approximately one mile east of U.S. 52.
A black 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, driven by Nicholas T. Roman, 36, of South Point, was going east on County Road 1 when it went left of the center line and struck head on into a westbound silver 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by Christopher E. Smith, 30, of South Point, which overturned into a yard after the impact.
Roman was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County coroner.
Smith was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the OSHP.
