During the primary election season, I did my research on candidates running up and down the ballot. In addition to looking into the candidates, I needed to do more research about each of the offices.

While looking into it, I became more aware of the fact that Ohio has a mid-level Court of Appeals. This court is a second set of eyes that ensures that justice is done in the Buckeye state.

I reached out to several candidates including, Mike Hess, who is running to sit on our 4th District Appellate Court. Mike could not have been more open to discussing the structure of the court, his judicial philosophy and what brought him to run for this position. It was great to have a candidate running in such a large district take so much time answering my questions.

Mike Hess is a great guy and someone you like to sit down and talk with. You can be confident that his calm and open demeanor would be the same man that sat on the bench of this important court. For young people, it is difficult to get adult professionals to slow down and discuss these type issues with us. Mike Hess took the time and has been in contact sense. I think that says a lot about him.
