The deadline to register to vote in time for the Nov. 6 election is next Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Voters may go to MyOhioVote.com/VoterRegistration to register online or update an existing registration. Voter registration forms can also be printed from MyOhioVote.com or obtained from a local library or board of elections office.

All voters may begin voting on Oct. 10, the first day after the close of registration via in-person at the Lawrence County Courthouse and by mail-in absentee ballot. For more information, visit MyOhioVote.com.

Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may do so by visiting OhioMilitaryVotes.com, while overseas voters can visit OhioVoterPassport.com. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, track the status of their mailed ballot, and sign up for election reminders via email and social media.

There are a number of state and local offices for people to vote on, with two Congressional races, including U.S. Senate with incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown facing Republican Jim Renacci and Libertarian Bruce Jaynes; and U.S. Representative, District 6 seat, with incumbent Republican Bill Johnson facing Democrat Shawna Roberts.

In state races, all the top positions are open.

For Ohio governor and lietenant governor, the candidates for the Republicans are Mike DeWine and Jon Husted; for the Democratic Party, it is Richard Cordray and Betty Sutton; for the Green Party it is Constance Gadell-Newton and Brent Joseph; and for the Libertarian Party it is Travis Irvine and Todd Grayson.

For the Ohio Attorney General office, Democrat Steve Dettelbach is running against Republican Dave Yost.

For Secretary of State, Democrat Kathleen Clyde is running against Republican Frank LaRose.

In the Ohio Treasurer race, Democrat Rob Richardson is running against Robert Sprague.

In the Ohio Auditor race, Democrat Zack Space is running against Republican Keith Faber.

Four candidates running for two open seats on the Ohio Supreme Court, incumbent Mary DeGenaro, Michael Donnelly, Craig Baldwin and Melody Stewart.

Also on the ballot is State Issue 1, which would among many things, lessen the some drug charges from a felony charge to a misdemeanor and reduce jail time for prisoners who participate in rehabilitative, work, or educational programming.
