And the winner is….
No one.
With the tennis match starting 30 minutes late and each game long and grueling, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers and Minford Lady Falcons were unable to finish on Thursday.
Ironton’s No. 2 singles player Katelyn Caskey survived a tiebreaker tow in and the No. 1 doubles team of Sophia Caines and Jaycee Johnson came away winners.
No. 1 singles player freshman Kendall Dodgion lost a tough match to Minford’s top singles player.
The final two matches had Ironton’s No. 3 singles player Hannah Lynn tied 1-1 and the No. 2 doubles team of Brooke Barnes and Holly Dutey down 0-1 when Mother Nature’s lights went out.
Ironton’s final tennis match is at Portsmouth next Thursday.
The sectional tournament drawing is set for Sunday with play to begin on Oct. 2.
