WEST PORTSMOUTH — The St. Joseph Lady Flyers didn’t get to sleep in on Saturday, but they turned their soccer game into a snoozer.
The Lady Flyers blanked the Portsmouth West Lady Senators with a lopsided 8-0 win Saturday morning.
St. Joseph was dominating with 33 shots on goal to just one for West.
“Our midfield and defense did an outstanding job of keeping the ball on the offensive side of the pitch,” said Lady Flyers’ coach Dan Blair.
The Lady Flyers began the scoring quickly with a goal by Kerri Jenkins — her first of the season — at the five-minute mark.
The onslaught continued as St. Joseph scored four goals in each half.
Emma Whaley had two assists and three goals, Bella Whaley scored two goals while Isabella Griffiths, Lydia Sheridan and Jenkins each getting a goal.
The schedule gets tougher this week with three road games at Chesapeake, Rock Hill and Gallipolis.
