The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system in Lawrence County.
• The 12th Street (green) bridge over the Ohio River at Ashland has been closed for a $1 million repair project.
The adjacent 13th Street (blue) has been converted to two-way traffic with two lanes for traffic crossing from Kentucky to Ohio and with one and two lanes for traffic crossing from Ohio to Kentucky. All Kentucky-bound traffic must turn right into U.S. 23-Winchester Avenue.
Also, traffic on Winchester Avenue-U.S. 23 going to Ohio is restricted to one left-turn lane at the 13th Street bridge.
Solida Road is closed between the U.S. 52 eastbound interchange ramps and Collins Avenue at South Point for an intersection improvement project. The closure will be in effect through December 31, 2018, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via either Macedonia Road or Grandview Avenue and Old U.S. 52. The westbound interchange ramps will remain open to motorists traveling north on Solida Road.
• Ohio 217 has been reopened at its junction with Deering Bald Knob Road after a bridge replacement project. Crews have finishing work to complete within the project zone; however, impact to traffic should be minimal, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers when crews are at work.
• State Route 522 has been reopened to traffic between State Route 650 and Wagner Bridge-Empire Road following a bridge replacement project. Crews will return to the site to complete paving operations, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.
A schedule to complete the additional paving work has yet to be determined.
