Ironton man faces trial on many charges

Numerous defendants enter pleas
An Ironton man pleaded not guilty to all seven of his new charges Wednesday in the courtroom of Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Charles Cooper. In addition, he previously pleaded not guilty to two drug charges in an older case back in July.
Burnal Aldridge, 38, of 911 County Road 24, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to two counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, one third-degree felony and one first-degree misdemeanor, two counts of trafficking in heroin, one third-degree and one second-degree felony, two counts of having weapons while under disability, both third-degree felonies, and aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a first-degree felony.
In July, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of trafficking in heroin, one second-degree and one first-degree felony.
Cooper set bond at $200,000 cash or surety, and trial in both cases is set for Oct. 15.
In other cases:
• Pamela Ackison, 56, of 2033 State Route 243, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), two fourth-degree felonies and one third-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $20,000 cash or surety or $20,000 property. Pretrial was set for Sept. 12.
• Ethan Anderson, 21, of 2033 State Route 243, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to complicity to trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, and trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety, and set pretrial for Sept. 5.
• James Barton, 46, of 415 Etna St., Apt. D, Russell, Kentucky, previously pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine) and possession of heroin, both fifth-degree felonies. He rejected the state’s final offer of four years community-controlled sanctions (CCS) under ISP with 22 months reserved and STAR, and is facing four years CCS under intensive supervised probation (ISP) with 22 months reserved and six months in the county jail instead of STAR.
• Roy Berry, 37, of 88 Township Road 1006, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety, and set pretrial for Sept. 12.
• Heather Christian, 30, of 2535 S. Third St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced her to four years CCS under ISP with 11 months reserved, and ordered her to complete STAR and 200 hours community service. As part of the plea deal, another charge of failure to appear was dismissed.
• Stephanie Gallagher, 38, of 1563 S. Second St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a third-degree felony, possession of drugs (Acetaminophen), a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drugs (Xanax), a first-degree misdemeanor. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety, and set pretrial for Sept. 12.
• Justin Hackworth, 20, of 272 Township Road 615, South Point, pleaded not guilty to two counts of burglary, both third-degree felonies. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety, and set pretrial for Sept. 12. In another case, Hackworth also previously denied CCS violations. CCS trial in that case is pending.
• Frederick Jenkins Jr., 40, of 306 High St., Coal Grove, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony.
• Jason Stapleton, 33, of South Point, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), both fifth-degree felonies. Cooper set bond at $10,000 OR with GPS monitoring house arrest. Pretrial was set for Sept. 19.
• Miranda Thompson, 25, of 3770 Ripley Road, Point Pleasant, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Cooper sentenced her to four years CCS under ISP with three years reserved, and ordered her to continue receiving her treatment at Recovery Point in Charleston, West Virginia, as well as 200 hours community service.
• Jesse Walker, age and address unknown, denied CCS violations. He also has a new charge pending in a different case. Cooper set CCS trial and arraignment in the new case for Sept. 5.
