Flyers blast West, 12-1

WEST PORTSMOUTH — Now that’s what you call a blowout.
The St. Joseph Flyers posted a lopsided 12-1 soccer win over the Portsmouth West Senators on Tuesday.
Senior Isaac Whaley was a scoring machine as he amassed six goals to help the Flyers improve to 3-0.
Zach Roach and Jackson Rowe scored two goals each while J.C. Damron and Dru Canter had one goal apiece.
The Flyers had plenty of help scoring as Bryce Balestra, Jared Johnson, Ryan Payne, Matthew Sheridan and Rowe all had assists.
Flyers’ goalkeeper Jimmy Mahlmeister ahd five saves and Michael Mahlmeister added another.
Maverick Stone recorded the lone West goal while goalie Jared Operman had six saves.
St. Joseph had 33 shots with 18 on goal, six fouls, 10 offside penalties and two corner kicks.
West got 12 shots with seven on goal, four corner kicks and had nine fouls.
The Flyers hosts South Point on Thursday.
