Land of Goshen to have event

All invited to ‘Come to the Table’ Saturday

Land of Goshen will have a community event about addiction called “Come to the Table” in downtown Ironton from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Farmers Market Square. The event is free and open to the public.

“This is an outreach to the community,” said Amber Sanders, Land of Goshen’s regional director of business services. “We are going to be feeding people, we have had donations made by local restaurants.”

Land of Goshen is a 16-bed, holistic residential and substance abuse facility for women in Hanging Rock.

“There will also be praise and worship,” Sanders said. “There will be clothing items and backpacks filled with school supplies for families who can’t afford it and need help with that.”

Guest speakers will include Amy Smith, Land of Goshen’s COO/founder/program director; Patricia McCormick, Land of Goshen’s counselor; Tim Craft, founder of High on Hope Ministries and outreach and marketing director for Land of Goshen; and Christine Orahood, a recovering addict who went through Land of Goshen’s program.

There will be music, free Bibles and information on neighborhood resources.

Sanderson said that they event is for all in the community.

“We have just passed out flyers to all types of peopel,” she said. “We didn’t just target families of addicts, we want everyone to come.”
