Kool Hits 105.7 hosting event, activities
ASHLAND — Ashland in Motion’s First Friday will take place in downtown Ashland on Friday with a theme of “staying cool,” with cool treats, water activities and contests provided by downtown Ashland radio station Kool Hits 105.7.
The event will run from 5 p.m.-midnight, with extended hours and activities designed to keep residents cool from the summer heat.
Outrider and 3rd Rock will perform live music at the intersection of 15th Street and Winchester Ave, facing the First Friday Beer Garden. The concert, sponsored by Town Square Bank, is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7 p.m. The First Friday Beer Garden will be open from 5 p.m.-midnight, and is co-hosted by Fat Patty’s on 15th Street adjacent to the restaurant. Domestic and craft beer selections will be available.
Children’s activities will take place between 5-9 p.m., and include:
• Big Wheel Race hosted by Kool Hits 105.7. The race begins at 7 p.m. outside the Kool Hits 105.7 studio, located at 1524 Winchester Ave. The winner will receive two tickets to the COSI Museum Dinosaur Exhibit in Columbus. Participants must bring their own big wheel bike.
• Inflatables ($5 per child), located on Judd Plaza and 16th Street, hosted by BC Tool and Party Rental, and water activities.
• Complimentary popsicles provided by Kool Hits 105.7.
• Free squirt gun painting and glow sticks, hosted by First Presbyterian Church.
• First Baptist Church, located on the corner of 17th Street and Winchester Ave., will also provide free programming and activities for children.
Children are encouraged to wear/bring appropriate water gear, and towels will not be provided. Guardians are responsible for supervision.
Contests hosted by Kool Hits 105.7 to take place include:
• Twist Dance Contest; winner will receive a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
• Retro Costume Contest; winner will receive two tickets to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
• Movie Trivia Battle featuring numerous prizes.

Classic Car Show:
• Classic car owners are invited to show off their vintage vehicles and connect with area car enthusiasts. Enter the venue via 15th Street and Greenup Ave.
• Cars begin parking on Winchester Ave. from 14th-17th streets at 3 p.m.
• A $5 donation in support of non-profit organizations Ashland in Motion and Coalition for the Cure of Parkinson’s Disease is encouraged. The donation registers the vehicle and enters the participant into a nightly door prize drawing.
Crafting classes by Create Something; First Friday’s monthly creative workshop:
• Bluegrass Mama Creations hosts a camping-themed door hanger painting tutorial, and a $5 deposit is required. The total cost per class may vary. Visit www.Facebook.com/BluegrassMamaCreations to register.
• Create Something First Friday workshops are sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Passport Program; monthly opportunity to win $50 Visa gift card:
• First Friday attendees may pick up a passport at the Ashland in Motion office, located at 1509 Winchester Ave.
• Participants must visit a list of specified downtown businesses during the event for the chance to win the gift card.
• First Friday Passports are sponsored by Members Choice Credit Union.
