Ironton LL ends fifth in state tourney

NORTH CANTON — It wasn’t the end they wanted, but it was the effort they expected.
The Ironton Little League 12-year-old All-Stars battled their way to and throughout the Ohio State Tournament only to fall short of their goal.
Ironton lost 13-3 in five innings to traditional little league power Hamilton West Side on Wednesday and finished fifth in the state tournament.
Ironton trailed just 4-3 after the first inning as Brady Moatz and Brady Medinger drove in runs.
Six different players had base hits for Ironton.
Braden “Biggie” Schreck was 1-3 with a triple and a run scored. Brady Moatz was 1-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Brady Medinger was 1-1 and an RBI, Hunter Freeman 1-3 with a double and an RBI, and Kerstin Roach was 1-1.
Ironton team members are: Brady Medinger, Ian Ginger, Drew Brown, Jon Wylie, Hunter Freeman, Tommy Sheridan, Connor Kleinman, Braden Schreck, Kerstin Roach, Maddox Vass, Brady Moatz.
The group beat Mount Vernon 4-2 to open the tournament before losing to Youngstown Boardman and Hamilton West Side.
