On Thursday, the Rock Hill Senior League baseball team was preparing to leave to play in a national tournament in Peru, Illinois.

That night, a sendoff event took place at Buffalo Wild Wings at The Hills Shopping Center in Ironton, in which the community came out to wish the boys well on their journey.

Lots of people took part in the event, which paid tribute to the team’s efforts and boosted their spirits going into the tournament.

The team sported the slogan “#RACK” on their T-shirts, which paid tribute to Cody Gollihue, a former ballplayer who was killed in a car crash last year.

“Random Acts of Cody Kindness” has become a national campaign, inspiring others to live by what family and friends say was Cody’s message in life.

Gollihue’s family was in attendance at the sendoff.

We salute all involved who helped organize this sendoff.

It was great to see the community pull together to recognize these athletes’ achievements and to spread a message of positivity.
