OGLESBY, Illinois — The Michigan Senior League All-Stars are pitching a shutout.
Not just for Monday’s game, but for the tournament.
The team from Grand Rapids beat the Rock Hill Senior League All-Stars 14-0 in five innings on Monday as the Michigan team ran its record in pool play to 3-0 and all have been shutouts.
Rock Hill failed to generate any offense. Held without a hit, the only blemish on the Michigan pitching line was a lead-off walk to Jordan Griffith.
Drawing players from an area of three large high schools, Michigan got seven runs in the first inning, five in the second and two more in the fourth inning on the strength of 13 hits and four Rock Hill errors.
Rock Hill must now wait for the remaining games to be completed to see if they move on to the single elimination tournament that began on Tuesday.
In the Ohio Little League state tournament, Ironton lost 18-0 to Youngstown Boardman and will play Hamilton Westside at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
