JACKSON — The man accused in the death of a 10-year-old Ironton girl will be arraigned today in Jackson County Municipal Court.

Christopher Haines, 29, of Oak Hill, was arrested Saturday for aggravated vehicular homicide, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Haines was southbound on State Route 93 when the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving struck the 1995 Mercury Cougar driven by Marsha McGinnis, 29, of Ironton. McGinnis was stopped in the southbound lane behind Joseph Albright of Wellston.

“Albright was stopped southbound on State Route 93, waiting for traffic to clear before turning east into a private driveway,” the release states.

McGinnis was struck in the rear end forcing her into Albright. Her car then skidded left of center where she was struck by the 2006 Toyota Prius driven by Deborah Miller, 21, of Columbus. Miller was northbound on State Route 93.

With McGinnis in the car were Angel McGinnis, 10 and Brice McGinnis, 5. All three were taken by HealthNet to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Angel was pronounced dead at the hospital. Brice was released and Marsha McGinnis remains at Cabell in good condition.

Miller was transported to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight. She was discharged Sunday. Haines was not injured.

It was determined Haines was under the influence of drugs, the patrol said.

The accident occurred near milepost 10 at 10 a.m. Saturday.
