ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Andrew Nicholson had a career-high 44 points and 12 rebounds, and St. Bonaventure survived the longest game in school history to beat Ohio 112-107 in four overtimes Saturday.
Nicholson, who topped 1,000 points in his career earlier in the week, scored five of the first seven points for the Bonnies (6-3) in the final overtime for a 106-101 lead with 52 seconds remaining. The Bonnies made 7 of 8 free throw attempts in the fourth overtime but only 6 of 18 in the first three extra periods.
The Bonnies shot a season-best 56.7 percent from the field (38 of 67).
The score was tied 17 times and neither team led by more than 10 points.
Demitrius Conger added 23 points and 12 rebounds, Michael Davenport had 19 points and Ogo Adegboye 13 for the Bonnies, who won for the third time in the past four games.
D.J. Cooper had 43 points and 13 assists to lead the Bobcats (6-5). Tommy Freeman added 17 points and Ivo Baltic had 13.
Nicholson played all 60 minutes and set a school record for minutes played in a game. He shot a career-best 14 of 19 from the field and made a career-high 16 free throws.
It was the most points in a game for St. Bonaventure since a program-record 134 in a 25-point win over Concordia on Nov. 24, 1990.
The last time the Bonnies scored more than 100 points was in a 104-101 loss to the Bobcats on Dec. 31, 2002.
