Sarah Barrett

Sarah F. McCoy Barrett, 90, of Chesapeake, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She was a retired realtor and grandma with the Foster Grandparent program in Lawrence County.
As a lifelong Democrat, she enjoyed working for the Office of the Lawrence County Board of Elections. Sarah was also a formal councilwoman with the Chesapeake Village Council.
As a daughter of the late Thomas and Florida McCoy, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Estel Suiter and Phyllis Keeney; and three brothers, James “Jim,” Julian “Doodle,” and Junior McCoy.
She is survived by her son, W. Allen Barrett, of Chesapeake; daughter, DiAnn (Carter Dale) Henson, of Chesapeake; granddaughters, Amy (Matthew) Wilson, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and Melissa (Gary) Selby, of Grayson, Kentucky; three great-grandsons, George Wilson and Gavin and Sawyer Selby; a sister, Mae (Jack) Davis; a brother, Edward “Eddie” McCoy; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank their friends, Osa and Dr. Z for their support.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Highland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Carter Dale Henson officiating. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, West Virginia, is honored to serve the Barrett family.
