Juanita Milleson Kincaid

Aug. 27, 1924 — June 2, 2018

Juanita would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, and job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place, where she will be socializing, knitting, cooking and reading to her heart’s content. Music, humming, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious, you never gain an ounce, and chocolate milkshakes are available 24-7.
This is the story of Juanita (Nete) Conkle Milleson Kincaid. Her story begins in Ironton, born Aug. 27, 1924, oldest daughter of Dr. Walter S. Conkle and Norma Wohlgemuth Conkle. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, card player and social butterfly. Mother’s pure heart never met a stranger or a person who wouldn’t benefit from a little well-intentioned advice. She was always ready to volunteer, whether it be school, church or museum for her children, friends and community.
Nete graduated from Ironton High School in 1941. She attended Ohio Wesleyan, and, after one semester, she left and married the love of her life, Dr. Phillip M. Milleson, formerly of Shelbyville, Indiana, who was then practicing Optometry in Ironton with Dr. Conkle at the Ironton Vision Center, which was first located on Center Street until moving to South Sixth Street.
In 1944, she started her family with Carol Ann Milleson Niehaus (Jack, deceased), of Cincinnati, while Phillip was stationed in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas during World War II. Over 23 years, they added five more children, Claudia Kay Milleson Brammer (Richard, deceased), of Wheelersburg, Dr. Steven C. Milleson (Leslie), of Ironton, Jenifer Jo Milleson Alderman (David), of Cottontown, Tennessee, Dr. James Eugee Milleson (Aleisha), of Ironton, and John Phillip Milleson (Delilah).
Juanita was one of the founding members of a Bridge Club in Ironton, which was active for many years. In the summer, she could be found at Sta Tan Pool, playing C&O all afternoon and keeping up with her kids’ activities. Phil and Juanita enjoyed traveling with their motor home or staying at their Myrtle Beach home most of their summers. Juanita also worked for some time at the Ironton Vision Center.
Juanita joined her family in heaven on Saturday, June 2, 2018, where she was in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was 93 years young.
She is survived by her second husband, Gerald Kincaid, of Louisville, Kentucky, whom she married in 2005; a sister, Eileen Conkle Smith (James), of Oxford; her six children; 12 grandchildren, Scott Niehaus, Stacey Niehaud Malone, Shanna Brammer Murphy, Nathan Brammer, Dr. Niki Milleson, Dr. Patrick Milleson, David Alderman, Katir Alderman, Briand Alderman, Lindsey Milleson, Tyler Milleson and Trenton Milleson; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Judith Gibbons

Oct. 8, 1949 — June 20, 2018

Judith (Clune) Gibbons, 68, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
Mrs. Gibbons was born Oct. 8, 1949 in Brunswick, Georgia, a daughter to the late Thomas and Doris (Clark) Clune. She is survived by husband of 50 years, Harry Gibbons, Jr..
Mrs. Gibbons was a 1967 graduate of Glen Academy and received her associate degree from Ohio University. She was a retired administrative assistant for Ohio University, retiring in 2007, after 25 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Clune and Betty Dowling; a brother, J.C. Clune; and a brother-in-law, Gary Lane.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Stacey (Jeff) Fairchild, of Franklin Furnace, and Tracey (Jeff) Bone, of South Point;
a brother, Thomas (Tina) Clune, of Carolton, Georgia; two sisters, Patricia Lane and Linda (George) Branzell, of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren, Michael Hern and Kristina Hern, both of Franklin Furnace, Nicole Smith and Dylan Smith, both of South Point.
Memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. 6th St., Ironton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until time of the service.
