SOUTH POINT — Three people were arrested in connection with car break-ins in South Point early Thursday morning.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Wille Abbott, 25, Irene Abbott, 27 and a teenaged juvenile, all of the Country Hearth Inn room 280, for allegedly breaking into 10 to 20 cars early Thursday, Detective Aaron Bollinger said. Irene and Willie Abbott are husband and wife; Bollinger is not sure if the juvenile is related to the couple.
All of the alleged break-ins happened in South Point between the Grandview Inn and the Country Hearth Inn.
Deputies recovered several items including baby strollers, radar detectors, cash, tools, a chainsaw and numerous cell phones, Bollinger said. An exact total of the property’s worth has not yet been determined.
Much of the stolen property has been returned to victims who have filed reports with the sheriff’s office.
Bollinger said in talking with deputies, he learned that a contributing factor to the search for the suspects was snow tracks, “which helped lead deputies to make the arrests.”
Both Abbotts will be arraigned today in Lawrence County Municipal Court. The juvenile will be arraigned in juvenile court today.
