Will be three-year term
COAL GROVE — The state of Ohio has accredited Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities (LCDD) for the quality of services and support it provides to those with disabilities in the county.
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities completed a comprehensive review of LCDD in May, where a team of surveyors reviewed all area’s of the agency’s operations, including personnel administration, services and support, early intervention, major unusual incidents and other indicators of general efficiency and effectiveness of LCDD.
Through the review, the results found that LCDD has achieved substantial compliance, and received a three-year period of accreditation as a result. This is something LCDD Director of Communications and Resource Development Tim Nunnery said was a positive turnaround from its previous review.
“During our last review, we received a one-year term, and we’ve made substantial changes to our standards since then. The three-year term is a testament of those standards being raised,” Nunnery said. “We’re proud of our staff and our agency for buying into a rejuvenated belief system we’ve implemented into our programs.”
He added that the changes were noticed by a team of surveyors during the review, and said that LCDD was commended for being on the right track in providing quality services to people in Lawrence County.
County boards are given approximately two months notice to prepare for the accreditation review, which requires many hours and a great deal of coordination between programs and departments. Despite the advance notice, most of the areas reviewed require the standards to be maintained by the county board throughout the term.
