PEDRO — Someone tell the Rock Hill Redwomen that Christmas is in December.
The Redwomen were giving away runs on Wednesday as the Gallipolis Blue Angels scored seven unearned runs in a 13-5 Ohio Valley Conference win.
Gallipolis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Alex Barnes and Hunter Copley singled, Chasity Adams put down a sacrifice and Bailey Meadows reached on an error.
Rock Hill grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first when Grace Stevens reached on an error and Maddie Harper smacked a two-run homer.
The Redwomen added a run in the second to make it 3-1.
Baylie Harrah was hit by a pitch, Sam Stamper sacrificed her to second and Stevens delivered a two-out RBI single.
Gallipolis (6-0, 4-0) scored three times in the third to take the lead for good at 4-3.
Copley walked, Adams singled, Meadows was safe on an error and Mal Mal Stanley had a two-run single. Allie Young followed with an RBI single.
The Blue Angels scored five times in the fourth and three more in the fifth to lead 12-3.
Barnes was hit by a pitch, Adams singled and an error scored a run. Meadows walked and Ryelee Sipple hit a two-run homer.
Stanley then singled, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Allie Young’s hit.
Gallipolis got its final run in the sixth on a single by Aubrey Unroe and a double by Bailey Young.
Rock Hill scored twice in the bottom of the sixth as Taylor Hall reached on an error, Stevens singled, Kylie Howard doubled in Hall and a wild pitch scored Stevens.
Rock Hill (6-4, 2-2) still collected 11 hits in the loss with Howard going 3-4 with a double, Stevens 2-4 with an RBI and Adams was 2-4.
Gallipolis had 14 hits led by Stanley who was 3-5 with a double and three RBI. Allie Young, Adams and Copley were all 2-4.
Rock Hill hosts Ironton on Thursday.
