Chad Pemberton of Phillips Funeral Home is completing his funeral director apprenticeship in June.
Pemberton has worked at Phillips Funeral Home for the past nine years. He was hired for a maintenance and funeral attendant position and quickly moved into an administrative assistant role.
With encouragement from his family and coworkers, Pemberton decided to turn his job into a career. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.
“Chad is very kind and caring, with a great personality,” said David Phillips, owner and funeral director at Phillips Funeral Home.
“I enjoy helping families in their time of need,” Pemberton said. “I consider my day a success when a family says their grief was lightened by the way everything was handled.”
When he isn’t at the funeral home, the Rock Hill High School graduate is a pastor at the Tabernacle Church and a Lawrence County District 11 umpire. He and his wife, Kim, have five children.
Phillips Funeral Home was founded in 1907 by W.W. Phillips. The funeral home is still family-owned and operated and offers a wide range of funeral and cremation services.
