Highlands Museum HeroCon set for April 7

Several activities, celebrity guests scheduled
ASHLAND — The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center will host this year’s annual Highlanders HeroCon from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at the museum.
The one-day conference will offer something for all ages, and celebrates comic books, costumes and gaming of all varieties, such as tabletop and board games, role-playing and video games.
During the event, there will be various tournaments for prizes, a costume contest at the end of the day, a variety of performances, panels and celebrity guests available for Q and A. On hand will be Clint McElroy, of The Adventure Zone podcast and Twitch Celebrity Gamer: Mystique Siren, Final Form Fusion dance troupe, Batman, the Scooby Doo Mobile, the TARDIS, Tri-State Escape Break-Out game room and more.
Authors and creators who will be there for autographs and discussions include Mike Belcher, Steven Paul Watson, CT. Phipps, Carrie Stambaugh and Ron Van Stockum Jr. TimeWarp, the Goblin Traders and GameStop will also put on an introduction of gaming, which expands the scope of the whole fundraiser.
In addition, the Boyd County Library is sponsoring a laser tag area, So Social is sponsoring a free play area with big blue blocks for toddlers, and face painting will be available throughout the event.
My Dad’s Pizza and other local food vendors will be present for concessions as well.
General admission tickets are $8, and museum members and those 17 years old and under are $5. The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center is located at 1620 Winchester Ave.
Entrance to the HeroCon will be through the Community Trust Bank parking garage, sixth floor, located at 344 16th St., Ashland. Entrance to the parking garage is on 17th St.
