HUNTINGTON — Choices: The Movie, which was filmed in and around Huntington, West Virginia, will have its local premiere in April. It will be shown during weekend of April 20-21 at the Christ Temple Church.
The movie is based on the experiences of Ron James, a motivational speaker and the author of the book “Choices, Lessons Learned from a Repeat Offender,” which chronicles him spending 25 years in prison after a series of bad choices, including selling and doing drugs and becoming an alcoholic, and how he overcame that. After being released from prison, he co-founded the Your Choice Foundation to inspire others to make good choices.
He has visited Ironton several times to speak against drug usage in this area.
“We chose to have the first showing of the movie in Huntington, West Virginia because the movie was filmed there and received tremendous support from the community,” James said. “We plan to make it a celebratory event.”
As part of the movie event, West Virginia singer Landau Eugene Murphy will perform. The one-time car wash worker rose to prominence after winning America’s Got Talent in 2010 with his unique style of jazz singing.
On April 20, there will be a private dinner at the church with the stars of the movie.
Murphy will perform at 7 p.m. and the move begins at 7:30 p.m. On April 21, Murphy will perform at 7 p.m. and the move begins at 7:30 p.m.
