Display up through April 14
Well-known Ashland, Kentucky artist Gail Kirtz is currently featured at the Ironton branch of the Lawrence County Briggs Library for the Ironton Artists Association’s display.
Born in Dundalk, Maryland and raised in Ashland, Kirtz’s formal education included fine arts studies at the University of Kentucky, specializing in painting and 3D design. She has been a professional artist for more than 20 years and has taught painting classes and workshops for many years as well.
As Kitrz works in all mediums of fine art, the exhibit at the library features mixed media collage, oil, acrylic and pastel.
She said she particularly enjoys oil painting with a knife because “the purity of color and the texture of knife painting is always exciting.”
All of Kirtz’s original paintings will be on display at the library until Saturday, April 14 and are also all for sale.
