Norma Wilson
Oct. 3, 1937- Jan. 18, 2018
Norma Jean Wilson, 80, of Kitts Hill, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 3, 1937, a daughter of the late Willard and Pearl Wilson Clay.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Leon Wilson, who passed away in April 2001.
Mrs. Wilson attended Coal Grove High School and was a homemaker. She attended the Myrtle Ridge Baptist Church in Kitts Hill and lived in the area all her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Clay Henderson.
She is survived by a daughter: Rebecca (Mike) Jenkins of Jackson; two grandchildren, Austin Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina and Chandler Jenkins of Jackson; one niece, Beverly Sue Clay; two great-nephews, Roger (Sheila) Clay and Randy Clay; one great-great-niece, Leah Clay; one nephew, Curtis Henderson; as well as several other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, with Pastor Tim Burge officiating. Burial will follow in Linnville Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
John Ackerman II
John William (Bill) Ackerman II, age 77, of Pedro, died at St. Mary’s Outreach Center Ironton.
He was born Aug. 9, 1940, the son of the late John and the late Blanche Osborne Ackerman. He was the husband of Barbara Worley Ackerman, with whom he shared 48 years together.
He was retired from Brasken. He was preceded in death by son, John Ackerman III, and one stepson Mark Campbell.
He is survived by not only his wife, but daughter and son-in-law Angela and Clifford (Butch) Leport; grandchildren, Christina (Tim) Stapleton, and Lacey Leport; stepdaughter, Cheryl Campbell; stepson, Wayne (Patty) Campbell; nine granddaughters; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Judy Winters, Melinda Ackerman, Jane Rudmann; and three brothers Ronald (Butch) Ackerman, Robert Joseph Ackerman, and David Ackerman.
Visitation will be Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at the Funeral Home Monday at 1p.m. with Father Greenwell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coal Grove.
Larry Walls
Larry Gene Walls, 80, of Proctorville, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at home.
Private family services will be held. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wayne Allan Nelson
Wayne Allan Nelson, 60, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Bernard Wilson
Bernard V. Wilson, 87, of South Point, died on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Eileen Wilson
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Pentecostal Truth Ministries, 1208 Adams Avenue, Huntington, West Virginia, by Rev. Tim Porter with visitation an hour before the service. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Visitation will also be held from 6- 8 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Jane Bandy Norris, 93, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, formerly of Ashland, Kentucky, died on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Kentucky.
