The South Hills Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host its second annual Coyote Hunting and Trapping Seminar from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Collins Career Technical Center.

Differing from last year’s event, the seminar will be an open forum with vendors on site displaying and selling hunting-related items, as well as trapping and hunting experts for you to visit. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, along with raffle tickets for prizes with all proceeds going to the chapter.

Immediately following the seminar, the chapter will host its Inaugural Tri-State Coyote Hunt competition. The competition is 100 percent payout, two-person teams, with hunting only in Ohio, Kentucky or West Virginia, and the two-person tea registration fee is $50.

Attending the Coyote Hunting and Trapping Seminar is the only way to register for the Coyote Hunt Competition. The competition will last until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.

Teams may hunt day or night, and must follow all wildlife regulations in the state they are hunting in. All teams will bring their harvested coyotes back to Collins Career Center for the official scorer to determine the winning teams.

Payout is to the top three teams only, but plaques will be awarded for first through fifth places as well as biggest coyote.
