The Oakley C. Collins Bridge reopened Tuesday afternoon following the first day of inspections by the Ohio Department of Transportation’ Bridge Department. Crews began the inspection this morning but suspended operations for the day due to inclement weather and strong winds.
As part of ODOT’s annual bridge inspection program, the Oakley Collins Bridge is undergoing a series of routine inspections this week, with the bridge being closed during working hours.

The bridge inspectors will resume their efforts Wednesday and the bridge will be closed at 8 a.m.
The closure will be in effect until approximately 4 p.m. or until work has been completed for the day, and the inspections will continue on Thursday as well.
All work will be weather permitting, and the bridge will be open to traffic when crews are not at work. During periods of closure, motorists will be detoured via the Ashland, Ky., twin bridges at U.S. 52 and Coal Grove.
