Will be up through Jan. 13
A collection of watercolor portraits by artist Janet Lester is currently on display at the Ironton branch of the Briggs Lawrence County Library.
The exhibit was put on by the Ironton Artists Association and the library, and will be on display through Jan. 13.
Lester creates her art at her Lakeside Art Studio in Ashland, Kentucky, and she also previously had a studio at the Pendleton Art Center in Ashland for 12 years, where she taught watercolor painting classes with another artist, Sylvia Jackson. With the Pendleton Art Center currently closed for remodeling, Lester and Jackson will teach classes at the Boyd County Public Library.
Lester said she paints in all media and subjects, but is best known for her portraits with personality. She added that she enjoys painting children’s portraits the most, but also does commissioned paintings of homes and pets.
Lester was also the Artist in Residence at the Ashland Area Art Gallery for 11 years, and has been teaching painting classes for 15 years. She is a member of the Tri-State Arts Association as well as the Kentucky Creative Arts Club.
The display features 17 paintings, and the Ironton library is located at 321 S.
