James D. “Jim” Hughes

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — James D. “Jim” Hughes, 62, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Proctorville, passed from this life, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010. Jim was born in Cabin Creek, W.Va., the oldest of five children of the late Ray and Aileen Hughes.
He served our country in the Air Force during Vietnam and was involved in local Boy Scout groups, the South Point United Methodist Church, the Rome Church of Christ, the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington, and various others clubs and boards throughout the Tri-State area.
Jim retired from CJ Hughes Construction after 44 years of service at different positions including president. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hughes.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sandy; his children, David (Kelley) Hughes of South Point, OH, Jennifer (Chad) Ward of Proctorville, Brian (Holley) Hughes of Proctorville, and Suzanne Hughes of South Point; his grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Krysten Hughes, Abbey, Alex, Hannah, and Benjamin Ward, and J.J. and Bryce Hughes; his siblings, Janice Main, Judy (Chuck) Austin, Jeff (Leigh) Hughes; and his sister-in-law, Carol Sullivan. A visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rome Church of Christ, Proctorville, with a Celebration of Jim’s Life at 12:30 p.m.
