CHESAPEAKE — Playing their first home game of the season after three road games, the Chesapeake Lady Panthers felt more at ease.
But the Lady Panthers didn’t let the Rock Hill Redwomen get comfortable as they posted a 58-34 Ohio Valley Conference win on Thursday.
Brooke Webb had 20 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots while Natalee Hall got 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead the Lady Panthers (3-1, 2-0).
Karli Davis added five assists to the winning effort.
“Offensively, we were pretty aggressive. Hall and Webb took advantage of mismatches inside,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball.
“I was pleased with our defense as well. Rock Hill has scored 50 or more points in its three games so we wanted to come out and slow them down and we were able to do that for the most part.”
Maddie Scott had 15 points to lead the Redwomen (2-2, 0-2).
“Scott did a nice job scoring inside for them and Rock Hill played hard. It was a good win for us and to be able to start 2-0 in the conference. It was good to finally be at home,” said Ball.
Chesapeake took an 18-7 first quarter lead as Webb scored eight points.
Hall got seven points in the second quarter to offset six by Scott as the Lady Panthers went up 34-18 at the half.
Hall and Webb scored six points each in the third quarter and the lead was now 46-27.
Scott had five points in the third quarter for the Redwomen.
Shia Ervin got six points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Panthers continued to pull away. Kyleigh Noel scored five or her eight points in the fourth quarter for Rock Hill.
On Monday, Rock Hill hosts Ironton and Chesapeake visits Portsmouth.
