Emmanuel Jenkins

Nov. 1, 1930 — Oct. 25, 2017

The Rev. Emanuel Jenkins, 86, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 1, 1930, the son of the late William and Hattie Sammons Jenkins.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Brooks Jenkins, whom he married on May 24, 1952.
Rev. Jenkins attended Hanging Rock schools and was a retired owner and operator of Emanuel’s Body Shop and a former auto body mechanic for Mid-Way Automotive. He was also a member of the Hanging Rock Church of the Nazarene, where he was on the church bowling league.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren, Marianne Johnson, Billy Johnson, Christina Johnson and Ashley Pruitt.
He is survived by three children, Diane (Lindsey) Pemberton, of Ironton, Patricia Nicholson, of South Point, and Angela Ray, of Hanging Rock; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.

Steven Townsend

Nov. 6, 1966 — Oct. 13, 2017

Steven Lee Townsend, 50, of Wheelersburg, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at his residence. Steven was born Nov. 6, 1966, in Ironton to the late Gary Lee and Nancy Carol Glazier Townsend.
Steven had worked as a firefighter in Upper Township for 15 years and was a member of Wheelersburg Baptist Church.
Steven is survived by his wife, Kimberly Jo Osborne Townsend, whom he married Jan. 31, 2006, in Wheelersburg. Also surviving are two sons, Matt Steven Townsend and Andrew Caleb Evans; two daughters, Kayla Nicole Townsend and Ashley Calah Sheffield; two brothers, Richard Allen Townsend and Gregory Keith Townsend; seven grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
The family extends a special thanks to SOMC Hospice for their care during Steven’s illness.

Dorothy Curry

June 29, 1932 — Oct. 24, 2017

Dorothy Curry, 85, of Coal Grove, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Crystal Care Center in Coal Grove. She was born June 29, 1932, to the late Orvin and Martha Ann Smith Holtzapfel.
She was the widow of Chester Curry. She was a member of St. Joseph Church. She was preceded by her son, Chester K. Curry; brother, James Holtzapfel; and sister, Mary Edna Holtzapfel.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Tiffany (John) Johnson; grandson, Devon (Deana) Holschuh; great-grandchildren, Harper and Chance Johnson, and Jami Holschuh; brothers, Larry (Pat) Holtzapfel and John “Jack” (JoAnn) Holtzapfel; and special friends, Don and Brenda Mannon, Austin Mannon and Ashley Wilson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Rosary will start at 10:30 a.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.

Aaron Black

Aaron Black, 81, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2017, at home. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Black. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
