South Point’s defense helped ignite its running game and their quickness on defense shut down the Gallipolis inside game as the Lady Pointers rolled to a 61-36 win Monday.

“We put a lot of pressure on them. They’re pretty good inside. We got a lot in transition,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.

Kayla Fletcher scored 24 points and Jalynn Bradburn had 19 to lead the Lady Pointers to their second win in as many tries. Allison Mitchell pulled down 11 rebounds.

“We got in some foul trouble, but our bench did a nice job,” said Adams.

Fletcher scored 8 points in the first quarter while Bradburn had 5 points including a 3-pointer as South Point jumped in front 15-8.

Bradburn repeated her performance in the second quarter and the defense held Gallipolis to 3 points to make it 31-11 at the break.

South Point visits Glouster Trimble on Thursday.
