SOUTH POINT — The scoreboard said Rock Hill vs. South Point. It turned out to be Victor Aguilera vs. Drew Smith.
Aguilera scored all three goals for the Redmen while Smith had all of South Point’s goals as the two teams tied 3-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference soccer game on Tuesday.
Smith had been out the past 17 days with an injury and was only cleared to play prior to the game.
“Drew stepped up big,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy. “Victor is the fastest player I’ve seen with the ball. It was a good battle.”
Rock Hill (1-0-1 overall and OVC) scored at the eight-minute mark on Aguilera’s first goal.
Smith used an assist from John Overstreet to score at 15:00 to tie the game.
Smith put the Pointers up with 22:00 on the clock with the aid of an assist by Bryan Waller.
Aguilera then tied the game at 25:00 on the first half clock.
The score remained that way until Smith’s penalty kick with 69:00 to play.
But Aguilera scored at the 75:00 mark and the game ended a tie.
South Point goalkeeper Brody Blackwell had 11 saves. Rock Hill goalies Noah Roberts and Kaleb Kidd combined for eight saves.
