Erma McMahon

Dec. 19, 1925 — Aug. 9, 2017

Erma Griffith McMahon, 91, of Scottown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Close To Home Assisted Living, Ironton.
Mrs. McMahon was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Waterloo, a daughter to the late George and Nell Vermillion Griffith. She was also preceded in death on March 15, 2011, by her husband, Fred McMahon, whom she married Jan. 11, 1948.
Erma was a 1944 graduate of Waterloo High School. She was the bookkeeper for Higgins Chevrolet for several years as well as a homemaker. Mrs. McMahon was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church and the Lawrence County Homemakers Club. She was very active in the V.F.W. Post #2761 Ladies Auxiliary and served many years in the PTA of the Symmes Valley Schools.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Deidra Hardy; and five brothers and sisters, Frederick Griffith, Ruth Drake, Daniel Griffith, Mayme Boggess and Edgar Griffith.
She is survived by three sons, David McMahon, of Scottown, Michael (Margaret) McMahon, of Columbia, Tennessee, and  Phillip (Margaret) McMahon, of Ironton; three granddaughters, Sara (Cameron) Kemplin, Ann McMahon and Kimberly Evans; one grandson, Michael (Sandy) McMahon; and four great-granddaughters, Lily and Julianne Kemplin and Meghan and Miranda Stephens.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Darrell Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Herman Henry Baker, 90, of Asheville, North Carolina, formerly of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at the Brookdale Nursing Facility in Asheville, North Carolina.
The Leatherwood native was born Aug. 13, 1926, a son of the late Charlie Don and Anna Kapp Baker. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Doris Cripple Baker, who passed away Dec. 27, 1998.
Mr. Baker was a 1945 graduate of Coal Grove High School and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was a former industrial control operator for the Allied Chemical Plant in South Point for over 33 years; he was also a former employee for Ashland Synthetic Fuels (H-Coal) and the South Point Ethanol Plant. He was a member of the Storm’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Darlene Baker; a brother, Harold Baker; and a great-grandchild, Hannah Elizabeth York.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Tres) Ross, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; a son, Joel (Suzie) Baker, of Arden, North Carolina; a sister, Freida Waller, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Cindy Baker, of Proctorville; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Graham) Thompson, of Destin, Florida, Jason (Ann) York, of Roanoke, Texas, Joel T. York, of Cedar City, Utah, Tresy (Jonathan) Capelle, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Robin (Brian) Gilchrest, of Duncan, South Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Kenny Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Anthony Conley

Anthony Brian Conley, 38, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Rikki Conley.
