Ironton Jr. League All-Stars stay alive in state tourney

The Ironton Junior League All-Stars are still alive.
After winning the District 11 championship and earning a berth in the state tournament, Ironton lost its first game of the state tournament on Saturday before bouncing back to win on Sunday.
Ironton lost to North Canton 17-2 on Saturday but beat Grand Valley 7-4 on Sunday. Ironton now plays at 7:30 p.m. Monday against Enon.
The state tournament is being held at the Ironton Little League complex.
Ironton won the District 11 championship beating Fairland twice in the championship series, 13-7 and 16-5 in five innings.
Ironton had 10 hits in the 13-7 win with Cameron Deer 3-for-4, Reid Carrico going 2-4 with a double and Mason Barber also 2-4.
In the second game, Michael Mahlmeister got the win with a six-hitter and also had a double. Levi Singleton was 3-4 to lead the 10-hit attack with Barber 2-3. Jackson Rowe had a double.
The state tournament began on Saturday night with Olentangy edging Mason 9-8 in nine innings while North Canton downed Ironton 17-2 in five innings.
Ironton was held to just two hits as Ryan Ashley was 1-1 and Barber went 1-3 with a double.
Ironton rebounded against Grand Valley as Singleton got the win with a six-hitter.
Barber was 2-4, Rocky White and Matt Sheridan were 1-1 and Carrico went 1-4.
On Sunday’s other games, Olentangy beat Enon 11-4 while North Canton toped Poland 10-4.
