Gus Macker needs new head coach

The Friends of Ironton organization is in need of a new friend of its own.
The grassroots civic group that has done much to help the community by bringing events to the region is now in need of a helping hand.
The group has hosted the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament since its inception six years ago.
Joyce Lynd has led the way, serving as the chairwoman for the event each year.
Under the guidance of Lynd, the Macker committee and other volunteers, the event has grown to be one of the most successful Mackers and a key attraction during the summer here in the Tri-State.
But the group needs help.
Lynd is not able to serve as the chairperson this year meaning there is a leadership void to be filled if this important community event is going to continue to grow and run smoothly.
It doesn’t take a basketball coach, a basketball fan or a basketball player to lead the way.
The group simply needs a dedicated volunteer who has the time and organizational skills to bring all this together for the benefit of the entire region. We are confident that there are many civic-minded individuals in our community who can fit this bill.
The Gus Macker has been a positive activity for area youth and adults alike.
Now it is important that the right person step up to ensure this will happen for years to come.
