Mildred Bush

Aug. 1, 1924 — 2017

Mildred Ruth Montgomery Bush, a woman who devoted her life to her family, has passed away at the age of 92. She was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Greenup County, Kentucky, the only daughter of Beckham and Hazel Hart Montgomery.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Bush; son, David Bush; and brothers, Burke and Graden Montgomery.
In March 1944, Mildred married Herbert Bush while he was serving in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the South Pacific during WWII. Following the war, they purchased a farm at Oldtown, where they raised their eight children.
She is survived by her children, Rita Joan Burnett, of Lloyd, Linda Susan (Duane) King, of Oldtown, Nancy (Dennis) Elrod, of Edgewood, Kentucky, Jean (Jim) Riedel, of Ironton, Theresa (Danny) Carey, of Flatwoods, Randall Ernest (Lesli) Bush of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, and Lisa Donohue, of Ashland; along with 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren.
Mildred was also blessed to have the companionship of her life-long best friend, Virginia Coomer, and caregiver, Brenda Tedrick, along with generations of family, friends and neighbors in the community.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mildred and Herbert’s grandsons, Scott Wiley, Jason Wiley, Matthew David Elrod, Chuck Riedel, Joshua Riedel and Evan David Bush, and as honorary, beloved nephew, Bob Montgomery.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Thomas Lucas

Thomas Vinson Lucas, 70, of Kenova, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at home. There will be a memorial gathering to remember Tom at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Avenue Church of God in the Fellowship Hall. Ancil Ward Jr.

Ancil Ward, Jr., 63, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Warriors of God Assembly, Altizer, West Virginia, by pastor Wayne Craft. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the church. Erma Ferguson

Erma Louise Ferguson, 80, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. A graveside service was conducted Monday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, assisted the family with arrangements.
