ASHLAND, Ky. — The Highlands Museum & Discovery Center is excited to present a special activity during June’s First Friday event.
From 5-8 p.m. on Friday, the Ashland Pickleball Club will be in front of the museum hosting games and demonstrations.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and is a great sport for all ages and skill levels.
This special event kicks off of a year of exciting events and programs leading up to the exhibit “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” that will be on display at the museum in April and May of 2018.
“Hometown Teams” is a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit that the Highlands Museum was chosen to host because of our community’s rich sports history and heritage. The museum is thrilled to bring this amazing exhibit to Ashland.
Persons are invited to stop by the pickleball area to ask staff and volunteers about this exciting collaboration between the Highlands Museum, Smithsonian Institution, and the Kentucky Humanities Council.
In addition to the pickleball activity, there will be discounted $3 admission inside the museum during First Friday.
For more information call the museum at 606-329-8888.
