Robbing two teenagers at knifepoint got an Ironton man eight years in prison.

Royce Thacker III, 25, of Private Drive 141, pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated robbery in Judge Charles Cooper’s Courtroom in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

In August, Thacker held up at knifepoint a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old outside of Granny’s in Ironton.

Also in court Wednesday, Johnathan D. Kazee, 19, of 727 High St., Coal Grove, was found to be competent to stand trial.

Kazee had previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to allegedly raping a 10-year-old male, but reports from a mental health evaluation indicate he is competent and was sane at the time of the alleged crime, Assistant Prosecutor Mack Anderson said.

His attorney, Warren Morford said he intends to seek another evaluation. A pretrial hearing has been set for Dec.1.
