GETAWAY — Two members of Collins Career Technical Center were recognized at an awards ceremony last week.

Steve Dodgion, the school’s superintendent, received the annual William B. Ruth Award, a commendation from PACE, an organization representing adult education.

“It’s an award given to an individual who has played a major role in adult education in Ohio,” Jaime Chaffin, director of post secondary education for Collins, said.

She said the award was to honor Dodgion for his overall career.

“He’s been working with adult education in a director and supervisory role more than 20 years,” she said. “He’s really done some significant work on committees and worked with the Ohio Department of Higher Education to make sure adults get a good education. He makes sure the career center is recognized by the state, so that it can continue to provide opportunities to students.”

Also being honored was Kelly Adams, who received the annual Pam Decker Memorial Award.

“It goes out to financial aid administers from Ohio,” Chaffin said. “She’s been a financial aid administrator at Collins and has been in the role for 25 years. She’s been a leader for a number of years, provides expertise and recommendations on issues and shows leadership.”
