ROME TOWNSHIP — Students from two Lawrence County schools recently helped out for a good cause.

A group of civil engineering students from Ironton and South Point high schools spent three days last week working on a Habitat for Humanity House, located on Township Road 194.

The students are enrolled in Project Lead the Way classes through the STEM program at Collins Career Technical Center, Matt Monteville, director of satellite operations for Collins, said.

He said the students enroll in a civil engineering course in their junior year.

As part of the class on Revit, an architectural software, they build a mock-up of a Habitat home.

“They design every feature,” Monteville said. “Then, they go and participate on an actual home.”
