Hobert Kelley

Hobert Kelley, 91 of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at a local health care facility. The Kitts Hill native was born Jan. 31, 1919, the son of the late William and Ethel Leach Kelley. Mr. Kelley is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Collins Kelley whom he married April 9, 1943.
Mr. Kelley attended Dawson-Bryant Schools and worked maintenance for Woodland Cemetery for more than 33 years and retired in 1981. Mr. Kelley was a World War II Army veteran in the 101st Airborne division and was a prisoner of war.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Arnold L. Kelley.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Kelley DeLong of Columbus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Debra Kelley of Columbus, David and Lillie Kelley of Corpus Christi, Texas and Curtis and Linda Kelley of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Dwayne Kelley of Corpus Christi, Jennifer and William Hobbs of Corpus Christi, Joshua and Heather Kelley of Gaffney, S.C. and Jeremy Kelley of Columbus; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
