As Chad and Jeremy once sang, “But that was yesterday, and yesterday’s gone.”
That’s how the St. Joseph Female Flyers handled the past couple of games as they lost to Grace Christian in a lackluster performance on Monday but bounced back on Tuesday to beat the Fairland Lady Dragons.
St. Joseph had just four hits against Grace Christian thanks to a strong pitching performance by the Lady Soldiers’ Morgan Maynard who gave up only four hits.
But the Female Flyers got their own strong pitching performance from Alex Holtzapfel against Fairland as she allowed just hits in picking up her sixth win of the season with a 6-3 victory.
Holtzapfel was backed by a 15-hit attack led by Megan Riley, Karly Young and Kelsey Malone who all collected three hits each.
On the defensive side, shortstop Morgan Turner and outfielders Faith Mahlmeister and Riley made some outstanding plays to help preserve the win.
St. Joseph hosts Grace Chistian on Tuesday.
