Alfred Banfield

Feb. 27, 1927 — March 24, 2017

Alfred Banfield, 90, of Ironton, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Denton, Kentucky, a son of the late Alfred Arden and Goldie Crum Banfield.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a heavy equipment operator for 43 years for C.J. Hughes Construction. He was very mechanically inclined, loved to read, watch sports and war movies and loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Faye Miller Banfield; five children, Ruby Compton, of Tennessee, Carol Banfield, Gary Banfield, and Alvina (Tom) Moore, all of Deering, and Margaret (Brian Morris) Banfield, of Coal Grove; sisters, Glenna Swingley, of Mount Vernon, and Edna Affolter, of Coshocton; one brother, Curtis Arden, of Coshocton; grandchildren, Aaron Moore, Brandon Moore, both of Deering, Steven Wells, Richard Wells, both of Tennessee, Sarah Clark of Deering, Rachelee Banfield, of Columbus, Sharon Compton, of Tennessee; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Banfield, and one grandson, Shaun Banfield.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point, with the funeral service following at 1 p.m.  Burial will follow at Community Cemetery.

Gordon Clement

Gordon Ray Clement, 81, of Kitts Hill, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton.

Cynthia “Cindy” Jane Morgan, 59, of Ironton, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Crystal Care Nursing Home in Coal Grove.
