COLUMBUS (AP) — Shannon Scott, the son of former North Carolina and Boston Celtics great Charlie Scott, headlines a three-man recruiting class announced Wednesday by Ohio State coach Thad Matta.
Some analysts have said it’s among the top 10 classes in the nation.
Scott, a 6-foot-2 point guard, averaged 13 points and eight assists a year ago while leading Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga., to a state title.
He is joined by Sam Thompson, a 6-6 forward who averaged 12 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocked shots a year ago while leading Whitney Young High in downtown Chicago to a 25-9 record and a state runner-up finish.
Rounding out the recruiting class is 6-9, 230-pound center Trey McDonald out of Battle Creek (Mich.). He scored 10 points and grabbed 6.4 rebounds as a junior last year.
