COAL GROVE — The Village of Coal Grove issued a boil water advisory on Tuesday after a main waterline broke on State Route 243.
Coal Grove Clerk Deborah Fields said that a police officer on duty noticed water running down State Route 243 around 6 a.m. on Tuesday near the WIC Clinic.
She also said the line was too deep for a backhoe to reach. The crew working on the break wasn’t able to reach the line until Tuesday evening.
“We apologize to those who are without water service,” said Fields.
She also said the crew would be working until service was restored.
“Fortunately, our new cut-off valves allowed us to minimize the amount of people down to just a few neighborhoods,” Councilman Nick Miller said about those without service. “The last grant we got when we put those water cut-offs in, they can now cut off certain areas and bypass and run water around to the country and everybody.”
Without the valves, Fields said the entire village would have been without service.
Neighborhoods affected by the break are the Three Oaks Subdivision, part of Washington and Lane Streets and parts of Marion Pike.
