Lady Tigers stop Lady Panthers

CHESAPEAKE — It seems “3” is Sydney Webb’s favorite number.
Webb scored 18 points including three 3-pointers and a three-point play as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 47-32 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Lexie Arden had 11 points and Lexi Wise added eight points as Ironton improved to 15-4 overall and remained atop the OVC at 11-1.
Chesapeake (13-6, 7-5) was led by Natalee Hall with 15 points including 5-of-6 at the foul line. Karli Davis added six points.
Ironton went in front 9-3 in the first quarter as Webb hit a 3-pointer and scored five points.
Webb drained two more trifectas in the second quarter and Wise scored four points as Ironton extended its lead to 23-15. Hall scored seven points for the Lady Panthers.
Arden scored four points in the third quarter as the Lady Fighting Tigers went up 33-21.
Webb took over in the fourth quarter with seven points including a three-point play to offset six points by Hall and four by Davis as Ironton continued to pull away.
Both teams play Saturday in the Tackett Body Shop Shootout at Ironton. Chesapeake faces Oak Hill at 11 a.m. and Ironton plays Circleville at 4:15 p.m.
On Monday, Ironton hosts South Point and Chesapeake entertains Coal Grove.
