WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings were in lockdown mode.
The Lady Vikings held South Gallia to just 14 points over three quarters en route to a 49-28 win on Wednesday.
“We played pretty well defensively,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Alvin Carpenter. “We had pretty good balance on offense and we passed the ball well and took good shots.”
Jensyn Shepherd had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings (8-4). Siera Ross scored 10 points, Payton Walsh had nine points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Kaitlyn Crabtree had four steals and four blocked shots
Kiley Stapleton scored 12 points for South Gallia (2-8).
Symmes Valley led 12-4 after the first quarter and it was 24-8 at the half. The Lady Vikings then blew the game open in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Rebels 20-6 to build a 44-14 cushion.
The Lady Vikings emptied their bench in the fourth quarter and the Lady Rebels used their press to outscore Symmes Valley 14-5 to set the final score.
The Lady Vikings had 22 turnovers — 10 in the fourth quarter.
Symmes Valley visits Beaver Eastern on Thursday.
